As someone that does not consider himself a big fan of Nintendo, I sure do spend a ton of money on their products. I just came to this realization recently. Perhaps other people are the same way.
My bet is that this is why Nintendo is winning this generation (on all fronts). Folks buy their merchandise without giving it much thought. Whether it’s the ‘casual’ nature of their games, or a perfect price point, I could not tell you what their recipe is - only that it works. I find myself staring at a pile of Nintendo games and a whole bunch of DS Lites that I have gifted to almost everyone in my family at one point or another - across all age categories.
It took guts to pull of the huge ‘sorpasso‘ that Nintendo accomplished in the past year. It is probably only slightly less impressive than what Apple did with the second coming of Jobs.
