London Drugs has shipped its Christmas catalogue and one of the items that caught my eye was the ‘Certifed Data’ GT735. Certified Data is London Drugs personal computer house brand. They have re-branded MSI notebooks for a while. The only feature specified is the AMD mobility 3850 and 17″ WUXGA screen.
The likely spec:
• AMD Turion™ X2 Ultra Dual-Core Mobile Processor
• Exclusive Turbo Drive Engine Technology
• Exclusive ECO Engine Power Management System
• The Combination of Aluminum and Metallic Threads in Body Design
• ATi Mobility Radeon HD 3850 3D graphic card (Built-in DDR3 512 MB VRAM)
• Theater Class 5 Speakers
• HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) Output
• Built-in 2.0 Mega Pixel Webcam
• 802.11 b/g, 802.11 b/g/n Wireless LAN with Bluetooth
This model might do well for London Drugs as Best Buy has seen fit to sell neither the Gateway FX nor Asus Republic of Gamers notebook lines in Canada this winter. It is not as sexy as MSI’s GT725, with its Centrino 2 platform and Mobility 4850 GPU, but that is one hard to find notebook.
Given the scarcity of options, this is not too bad.
