Great review of this computer! I have had this laptop for just over a year now, it is a great machine.... I have been able to run crysis on it with maxxed settings without any problems.... in fact i run all of my games on it maxxed without issues....

Only problem i seem to have is it tends to overheat and shutdown when i play graphic intensive games if i do not have an extra cooling fan underneath it.... otherwise this is truly a fantastic laptop that i would reccomend to anyone :)

Great review. I love the flaming top (didn't know it was called Metallic Bordeaux, thanks!). The laptop's performance is just phenomenal considering the price (I bought mine at Fry's sans the service contract).

To Toshiba's credit their install process does use the Microsoft recommend solution (WAIK) for Vista. If you quick you can cancel out any of the bloatware you don't want but compared to some of the other laptops I've bought this one had less bloatware than usual. I've even found some of their utilities useful!

I wish they had included a mini-coax jack option for S/PDIF - Toshiba's mini optical connector (TOSlink) may be homegrown but it's not quite as popular as coax. I didn't own an optical miniplug and none of the local stores carried one so I had to order it online. In my case, the 1 optical port on my receiver is taken up by an Xbox 360.

Still, it's an incredible performer for the price. Heat has not been an issue (as long as you don't cover the exhaust in the back).

Toshiba used to offer an international limited warranty, I don't know if that is still the case. Check the regional Toshiba site where you buying.

The x305 is not very travel friendly. And repairs when traveling are not usually feasible as it can often take days to order the parts.

Hi
Thanks for the interesting post.
Since I'm traveling a lot, I'd like to ask you about the Warranty
Is it valid for over seas?
Can you put a note on that?

Thanks,
Amit

Sorry, That notebook is long gone now. Try the www.notebookreview.com forums. Some one can help you there - check out the Toshiba section.
