Looking at this year’s crop of BTS notebooks it looks like the compromises are pretty low. A 2 GHz CPU is still plenty of power for most people. Prices have never been so low for devices with so much power and capacity. Form factors are better too with even budget models offering good portability. What is encouraging is the number of notebooks running at low temps – heat traditionally was the bane of budget notebooks.
Manufacturers are learning, all except Apple that is. It still likes its notebooks quiet, small and lap scorching hot and expensive.
