WSJ Previews Lenovo ThinkPad X300

Walt Mossberg gets all the coolest toys - a fair reward for covering technology for as long and as well as he has.

Today he posts a teaser for the X300, something that ThinkPad fans are anxiously awaiting.

What is not to love? All the features of a full sized notebook, in a package that is only marginally bigger than the MacBook Air. Click the link to read more.

Sporting the traditional ThinkPad black slab design, the X300 isn’t as skinny or sexy as the Apple…

I have to call foul on this point. In my eyes the iconic look of the ThinkPad has always been the sexiest design out there. I mean, it is a sinister looking and light absorbing black with a bright red accent (Nav Stick). Is there anything cooler? The MacBook, when released in black, instantly became cooler in my opinion.

The specs are really interesting. A full optical drive and an array of ports and connectivity options should make this a winner. Intel’s new CPU, excellent chipset, leading WiFi and even the X3100 graphics processing unit should make these new ultalights a lot more useful than their predescesors (models like the Portege R100 - which were great but not perfect).
